Clean and Sweet Handcare Kit from LUSH

I was very interested to see that LUSH started to provide some new offerings. Now, it’s been quite a while since I’ve ordered from LUSH as their prices keep increasing and I can’t justify it, especially when I have all manner of lotions and potions to use up, but I thought that I’d treat myself. They released three handcare kit boxes that are small enough to fit through your letterbox, though I also ordered a Comforter bubble bar and body spray so I got mine delivered as usual rather than through the letterbox.

I opted for the Clean and Sweet Handcare Kit which contains four items and is the cheapest of the three boxes at £22. They also have Clean and Calm at £27 as well as Clean and Fresh As at £25.

The Clean and Sweet Handcare kit contains:-

  • Honey I Washed the Kids Soap (100g) (Currently £5)
  • Milky Bar Soap (120g) (Currently £5)
  • Helping Hands Hand Cream (45g) (Currently £9 per 100g)
  • Tiny Hands Solid Hand Cream (60g) (Currently unavailable outside of set)

The Honey I Washed the Kids Soap was one of my first forays into LUSH. It smells AMAZING and I actually have a cut block of it in my soap stash. Now, it’s shaped in to these individual bars which looks a little more presentable but I found the cut slices more presentable. Also, it was a lot cheaper… One reason I have so much of a soap stash is it was more like £3.40 a bar when I purchased them. I’m glad I wrapped them up in polypropylene and preserved them… I recently got a bar out from several Christmases ago and it smells as fresh as the day I got it.. but I digress!

This is a really nice little set. I won’t write a long review of the individual products. They’re as you’d expect from LUSH. The fragrances are mild and inoffensive, sweet and clean smelling – It feels like a nice treat and indulgent to use the products from the set. The serum can leave your hands feeling a bit greasy and it doesn’t sink in like the hand cream so that’s worth noting. Tiny Hands and Milky Bar are Vegan but the other two products contain Honey and are therefore not vegan.

A lot of people are struggling with hand care in this pandemic, especially with further hand washing or drying out of hands from alcohol gel so this might be a nice gift for a loved one or yourself if your hands are going through the ringer. If you’re getting it for yourself and aren’t bothered about the hand serum, I’d just get the products individually and save a couple of quid. Because the box is small and thin, it fits through the letterbox which means you don’t have to worry about waiting in for the postie. The card box can be recycled and the packing peanuts dissolve in water. LUSH will also recycle the black pot – take back 5 when this pandemic is over and you can get a free fresh face mask!

Wash your hands with one of the soaps, use the moisturising cream afterwards and massage the solid serum in to your hands when they need some extra TLC.

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a beauty post and I figured it was long overdue. I don’t often buy beauty products anymore but I have missed posting about them and a little TLC is good for us all!

I hope you are all safe and well!

Rose and Thistle Wax Patisserie

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen me mention Rose and Thistle before; if not, I’m about to introduce you to one of my favourite, sense engaging pleasures.

The Rose and Thistle Wax Patisserie is an independent brand, based in Essex, shipping their goodies worldwide. Selling hand poured, soy wax melts and candles; they have perfume dupes, Lush dupes and a load of original, beautiful scents. Not only do the products smell amazing, but they’re also super pretty! Tammie originally started he business called “Up In A Bow“, but around a year ago, she started a second business, “The Rose and Thistle Wax Patisserie“. The name is one of the things that made me choose her store out of all of the wax vendors from Etsy, so I asked her how she came up with the name. She tells me that the names come from her children; Rose being her daughters middle name and Perth being the middle name of her son, named after Perthshire in Scotland where her and her husband first went away. The national symbol for Scotland is the Thistle and so Rose and Thistle was born! How cool is that?!

I first found the shop on Etsy when looking for a Lush Fizzbanger/Love dupe after Cleaves Candles changed the way they sell. I ordered a few Lush dupes and some other scents and really loved what I found. I’d ordered from a couple of other vendors prior to finding this one, but the products were.. pants, to put it politely. All the items I had ordered were mini melts that came in stripey paper bags like sweeties. Cute, I thought, though I prefer plastic cello bags – however, the mini melts in those paper baggies were lovely. (Update – They no longer sell mini melts in the shop generally, but you can request them if you’d like some!)

Since that time, I’ve been a loyal customer and I’ve watched the store come in leaps and bounds as Tammie (the stores owner) has been coming out with new scents, new formats for her product, new designs for them and really listening to us customers. If you’ve got a request, she’s happy to do her best to fulfill it. Wholesale orders, wedding favours, custom scented candles, mini melts, she’ll always try to get you sorted.

The fragrances are generally pretty strong, dupes are accurate, they have a good scent throw, an average burn time at a very fair price. Currently, she sells mini melts, snap bars, (edit – these are now via request) brittles, 1oz/2oz shot pots, cute shaped wax melts and candles (edit – she now sells themed boxes, room mists, 4oz pots and you can also request an 8oz or 12oz wax pie). She sometimes sells some other unique shapes not shown in her store exclusive to Facebook market nights which she posts details about on her companies’ Facebook Page. My favourites are Birthday Bonanza and Cherry Bakewell, but I basically adore all of her foodie scents.

I’m gonna shut the heck up now because there is only so much one person can say about wax, but I love their melts so much, so I wanted to tell you guys about them! If you order, I’d love to hear what you think and see your haul pictures. Just something so satisfying about seeing pots of wax… Maybe I’m strange. Scratch that, I’m definitely strange!
